18-24 year olds - Meningitis ACWY Vaccine

Do you have a child aged 18-24, who has just finished school, or who is off to University or Further Education for the first time? They may be eligible for a free Meningitis ACWY vaccine if they haven't already had it.

Meningitis is a killer and young adults are at higher risk of exposure.

Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) - Now available

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is an NHS service. It gives you the chance to change how your GP sends your prescription to the place you choose to get your medicines or appliances from.

Maternity Direct+

It is likely that with every new day throughout your pregnancy and beyond you will have at least one new question. If you have decided to have your baby at Basildon University Hospital, you can contact a midwife via social media.

Maternity Direct+ is there just for you, with an i-midwife on hand to answer your non-urgent questions. Our Maternity Direct Facebook page ( or search maternity direct) features daily posts about health, things happening in the press, how partners can help, pre-pregnancy, during and post pregnancy advice etc. As Maternity Direct+ is led by experienced midwives you can be assured that you will be provided with sound, evidence-based advice and support. We are there to help - so please visit our page, give us a ‘like’ and spread the word.

Your Accountable GP

Your Accountable GP

By the 31st March 2016 Practices are required under the GMS Contract to allocate a named accountable GP to all patients, including children.  This is purely an administrative exercise and does not change the way in which we operate or affect your ability to make an appointment or speak with any of the GPs in the Practice. 

You will be allocated to the GP who you see most often when you visit the surgery for an appointment. Having a named GP does not prevent you seeing any other doctor in the Practice as your usual GP will not be available at all times and if your needs are urgent, you may wish to discuss them with an alternative Doctor.

New patients registering will be allocated at the point of registration.  If you are aged over 75 or have taken part in the Avoiding Unplanned Admissions Scheme you will already have been allocated a named accountable GP and notified in writing - this GP will remain the same and will not change.

If you wish to be told the name of your accountable GP, please ask the Receptionists when you are next in the surgery.

Help Us, Help You!

In July 2018 we had 760 minutes wasted by patients either not turning up to their appointments or letting us know too late when cancelling appointments.  If you are unable to come to an appointment please let us know as early as possible so that we can give your appointment to someone who needs it.
